MICHELE BARCHI, my profile...

Born into a family of artists, painters and musicians, I started at 10 years studying the piano and practice of pictorial disciplines.

Continuing my musical studies at the conservatorio g. Verdi di Milano, graduating in piano in 1988 in Maria Isabel De Carli.

As a youth I am passionate to keyboard instruments, much to begin to design and build the first spinet only 16 years.

Later I broadened my knowledge organologiche on building these tools building harpsichords, spinets, virginali and organs, inspired to the original models from the 18th century. also regarding the pictorial and decorative style of the era.

Even before finishing his studies of piano, I undertook the study of harpsichord and basso continuo, treasuring trattatistico musical material and necessary knowledge of style.

After I graduated in harpsichord, but studying as self-taught.

I did, for a few years, the ensemble "Il Giardino Armonico" playing as soloist and continuo player in the most important music festivals, exhibitions and musical seasons, in Italy and abroad.

I did radio and television recordings for RAI, Radio France, Radio Classique, West Deutsche Rundfunk Switzerland, ORF Austria and various US broadcasters.

As a soloist, I recorded for the Teldec label different CD with music for harpsichord (concertos, suites, fantasias and fugues) by j. s. Bach full Edition "Bach 2000", also using the Lautenwerk, designed and built using the model z. Hildebrandt.

For the record label "Fugatto" I recently released a DVD devoted to music for harpsichord in 18th century Venice, including unpublished bresciani authors.

Under the direction of Maestro Claudio Abbado, I was invited in 2003 to the Lucerne Festival as soloist and continuo player in the full execution of J.S.Bach Brandenburg Concertos.

I participated as maestro al cembalo at the execution of the "Oratorio a Quattro Voci" by a. Scarlatti for the Salzburg Festival 2007 under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti.

Together with the violinist Elisa Citterio I founded the Baroque music ensemble Brixia Musicalis, in which sound like soloist and continuo player.

I worked from 2007 to 2010 with ensemble 415, directed by Chiara Banchini, with whom he recorded concertos op. 2 of Tomaso Albinoni (Diapason d'Or 2009)

As harpsichordist playing concert activities both as a soloist and in Chamber and orchestral formations.

I am dedicated to research and transcription of handwritten unpublished music and composers of eighteenth century bresciani (Pietro Gnocchi and f. g. Turrini) I also made recordings and videos.
